“AR is an attractive medium for use in museums because digital databases challenge existing archives with obsolescence, and the ever-growing tide of digital information can be reconciled with traditional, physical databases through the promise of AR.”

- Geoffrey Alan Rhodes, Filmmaker, Assistant

AR (Augmented Reality) imposes layers of virtual content on the real environment, enables a smartphone or tablet user to aim the device at a designated point and watch a still scene come into life. The use of mobile devices use has provided the public great opportunities to get familiar with AR applications. AR technology allows multimedia such as graphics, animations, and videos to be layered upon real environments, which provides a way for museums to bring collections to life.
